Introduction
The US-Vietnam Trade Council has worked to promote economic and political
normalization between the two counties since its founding in 1989. On
December 10, 2001 after the U.S. Congress and the Vietnamese National
Assembly voted for its approval, the U.S.-Vietnam Trade Agreement went
into force. The Trade Councils affiliate, the US-Vietnam Trade Council
Education Forum (link to Forum page), provides technical assistance
to Vietnam on issues related to the BTA, WTO, and international integration.
