The next round of Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks will be held in Singapore in late March.
Update: The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks that were scheduled to be held in Singapore with the March 30 talks have been postponed by the U.S., pending U.S. Cabinet officials - including the USTR – confirmation and consultation. 

April 27: USVTC and EDF sponsored a program for the Vietnamese National Assembly on global climate change negotiations, with Peter Goldmark and other experts from EDF visiting Hanoi.

Vietnam's WTO membership took effect on January 11, 2007. In celebration of this event and US-Vietnam normalization, the Council and the Embassy of Vietnam co-hosted a reception on January 11 for over 400 guests at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Attendants to this event included Ambassador Nguyen Tam Chien, Assistant Secretary of State Christopher R. Hill, Senator Jim Webb, Representative Earl Blumenauer (the new co-chair of the US-Vietnam Congressional Caucus), former U.S. Representative Rob Simmons (former co-chair of the Caucus). During this reception, USTDA Director Thelma Askey also presented Ambassador Chien with the USTDA's 2006 Country of the Year honor for Vietnam.
